Vacation Time

At the crack of dawn tomorrow morning, my family will be departing for a week of vacation in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. I am so looking forward to this opportunity for rest, relaxation, and fun times spent together!

As a result of our trip, my blog will be quite silent over the next week. Our cabin in the woods just doesn't have internet! And you know what? I don't mind a bit! It will be nice to escape from cyberspace for awhile and instead spend time in God's glorious creation. I'm sure I will have many a picture to share with you upon our return!

In the meantime, check out this video and be reminded of the awesomeness of the Creator we serve!

Hero's Night

On Saturday night, we enjoyed a family game night at church. The theme of the evening was Heros in honor of Father's Day. The dads were instructed to dress up as a "super hero" and were challenged to a Wii tournament, among other games. Not every dad dressed up, but those who came in costume added fun spice to the evening!

As you can see from the above picture, my dad dressed the part of a black belt karate man (which he really was many years ago!). The church folks tagged him as "Karate Kid's Grandpa." :-)

Birthday at the Beach!

I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works...The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. ~ Psalm 145 selections

This past weekend was a delightful time spent in God's glorious and majestic creation at the beach! I am so grateful to my sweet family (and Rhonda ~ my adopted "sister" for the summer) for making my birthday extra-special and for the wonderful memories we made together!

Thanks to my Aunt Nora, we were able to borrow a beach house belonging to friends of hers that provided us with a beautiful home setting for the weekend. This was not just any beach house, but a truly luxurious, 5 star accommodation sitting right on a private stretch of ocean!

We arrived Friday evening just in time for a walk along the water before the sun set. Then, the next morning, Rhonda and I rolled out of bed at 6:00 a.m. and dashed down to the beach to watch the sunrise.

At first, the sun was blocked by clouds.

Only this little guy was out at such an early hour!

Such a peaceful time of morning...

My special friend.

Here comes the sun!

"The heavens declare the glory of God!...

...and the firmament showeth His handiwork!" (Psalm 19:1)

I am fascinated by the sky.
The light show the Lord gave us that morning was absolutely stunning...

...so perhaps you can understand why I took so many pictures!

This is the house in which we stayed. Amazing, isn't it?

This picture is a favorite of mine.

Morning has arrived.

The perfect place for a quiet time with the Lord.
How I enjoyed soaking in the beauty of God's creation!

There's a story behind this gift of a camera; one that deserves a blog post of its own!
